Of course you don’t want to waste food!
But is it better to eat the excess & store it on your waist?
Here are two ways I’m learning to be less wasteful:
- make more appropriate serving sizes
- give away leftovers
True story: often my leftovers get ‘stored’ long enough that they nearly grow legs and throw themselves out
In that way, I feel no guilt in throwing them away.
All kidding aside, I’ve spoken with more than one client that struggles with this issue. They tend to overeat just so food doesn’t ‘go to waste’. At the end of the day, that food is going to ‘waist‘ – your middle!
So while throwing food out tends to be irresponsible, we work together to find solutions and change the mindset around this issue. So many of us may have pre-programmed ideas about food, food shortage, economics etc related to food that influence our relationship with food.
Creating awareness and action steps that align with values is important.
