How to Change Your Body Composition At Your DESK

A worthy goal is simply to sit LESS. You can combine outdoor walking (when possible) with indoor walking to bump up NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis).

An added benefit is a reduction in the midday slump, and who doesn’t want more energy?

The cost of a walking pad over the course of a year is about $0.43/day.

You can easily get 5K steps while WORKING, which is almost 2 million steps in a year as opposed to  sitting during this time.

Imagine how 2 million additional steps would increase your daily caloric expenditure…

Don’t wait for perfection.

Would it be best to get outside to get 10k steps in daily?

Absolutely. But realistically that may not happen often (or ever).

So, do what you can with what you have.

This inexpensive walking pad has helped bump up my step count for those days that are weather unfriendly (many in Canada!) or when work has me glued to the desk.

This is what an average day’s steps look for me now, even with many hours working:

You’d be surprised at how many simple tasks can be done while walking.

Would you consider a walking pad?

I’m not representing a walking pad company (although maybe I should be!), I’m just over here finding movement solutions for busy people like you!

Need more support? I gotchu.
