Have You Heard of ‘Joint Mice’ in Menopause?

NOT meant to be diagnostic!

Have you ever heard of joint mice?

A joint mouse is a loose piece of cartilage or bone tissue that floats freely through the joint. This can impede the movement of the joint.

Who knew?

I was happily doing bent over rows (legs loaded with knees slightly forward) when I experienced a ‘pop’ and pain in my right knee.

I had full range of motion and no swelling…

Weird!

Luckily I was able to see my chiropractor the next day.

After examination, there’s no ligament damage and the meniscus seems intact.

A simple explanation is ‘joint mice’.

A floating bit of cartilage or bone matter got caught in the joint, causing pain and a ‘pop’.

Two days later and my knee feels fine.

Welcome to old age where joints just start to wear out!

I’m not giving up and will happily return to Olympic weightlifting and all the other fun things I enjoy for another day.
