It’s a fallacy that eating too little will cause weight gain.
BUT low calorie eating over time will cause ‘metabolic adaptation’ – fancy speak to say your body gets more efficient at getting by on less calories.
Then, when you eat a little more, your body thinks you’re in a surplus and UG! You’re gaining weight!
The solution?
By slowly increasing calories (50-100 calories/day), the body has time to adapt to the higher intake without gaining excessive amounts of weight.
This takes time! You need to be patient.
Alternatively, if weight loss is your goal, you may try to CONTINUALLY lower calories but you’ll likely find this to be a frustrating, unsustainable UNLIVABLE solution.
Increasing calories is one of the most challenging things to do on your own.
