Why Your Weight Today Doesn’t Matter in Menopause

When you take your weight infrequently, you’ll get a number, but is it accurate?

Your weight WILL fluctuate, but don’t get frustrated.

There are MANY reasons why your weight will bounce a few pounds daily.

Here are a few:
-Your carb intake
-Your sodium intake
-Your exercise
-Your hydration
-The time of the month
-Your alcohol intake
-Your stress
-Your sleep
-Time of weighing
-Time of last meal
-Time of last poop

To get a more accurate reading of your weight & your efforts to modify it, take your AVERAGE weight over 7 days.

In doing this, you also will discover how YOUR body responds to various stimuli (like the things mentioned above).

And remember that weight is NOT the only indication of progress.

At the end of the day, your weight is simply your relationship with gravity.  Consider waist circumference, measurements, and/or how your clothes fit in addition to your average weight.

In additions, body composition is a much better indication of health, so if you have a scale that measures this, you may also quantify muscle, visceral fat and percentage of body fat. BUT,  these numbers will vary as well. Most scales use an electrical current to measure these values and your hydration will play into the reading. So, try to measure under similar circumstances each weighing, so to compare ‘apples to apples’ and as with your weight, average the values over 7 days (or more).

I hope this helps ease your stress over weighing yourself.
