While I’d never dispute scientific findings from @mackinpro – the world’s leading expert on protein and muscle metabolism, I know what makes me feel the best.
Dr Stu Phillips caused a big stir with his recent evidence based post recommending 1.6g of protein per 1kg of bodyweight.

By this calculation, 90g of protein daily is all I need. But I’ll continue to eat at least 125g of protein daily…
Here are my reasons for eating a little more than recommended protein :
- Protein reduces cravings for me
- I have more sustained energy eating more protein
- I LIKE eating protein
- My daily calories allow for it without compromising other macros
- I pay attention to intake & results
It’s nice to know that eating protein does NOT have to be your full time job and I’m also relieved to know that on some days if my intake is a little less, it’s fine.
I encourage you to pay attention to YOUR intake to understand how YOUR body responds to the food you eat. Do you know how much protein you eat? What makes you feel your best?
Of course I’m here to help you connect the dots. Reach out if you’d like some guidance.
