Why Is Your Weight Loss Stalled? The Food Labeling Edition

Food tracking is not infallible in helping you eat appropriate food quantities.

This is why learning to listen to your body is so important.

With practice, your body will tell you when it’s satiated.

In the meantime, food tracking is its own education so that you learn to fuel yourself with adequate calories, protein, fiber etc.

Did you know that food labels allow for a 20% variance in nutrient content compared to what’s stated on the label?

This means a product can legally have 20% more OR less of something like calories or protein.

A client was curious what her weight loss had stalled so when reviewing her food log, I noticed the peanut butter nutrition values didn’t sync with the quantity, even tho she was scanning the label.

Peanut butter is one of those energy dense foods that a 20% variance can make a big difference.

So what should you do?

If you’re not the desired getting results, double check some of the calorie dense foods when measuring and logging.
