What are hot flashes and how long will they last?

 Hot flashes can last 30 seconds to 5 minutes
 Interestingly enough, not all women experience them

 Not all flashes are of the same intensity
 Flashes can be as mild as a light blush or severe enough to wake you from a sound sleep
 Hot flashes can be associated with perspiration/night sweats which can interrupt your sleep
 One study showed:can last up to 10.2 years 😱 (so settle in – time to implement some solutions!)

Hot flash management:

 Identify and avoid triggers: spicy food, alcohol, wine
 Use a fan
Dress in layers
Deep breathing
Understand that it will pass shortly


 Luckily, you can reduce severity (frequency/duration) of hot flashes with exercise.
