Slow Progress? Ask Yourself This…

It’s time to be honest with ourselves.

When looking at your health journey, self examination is a good thing.

If we know we’ve done our best, then we can relax. We can stop beating ourselves up – we can know we’re doing our best and that’s all we can do.

We can be confident in knowing that the small changes we’re making will reveal themselves on the outside at some point. Our healthy changes are building positive change on the inside first and will soon manifest change on the outside with things like movement on scale, with lost inches, with increased energy, etc.

We may get frustrated when things don’t happen on our schedule, but things are happening.

We need to practice patience and kindness with ourselves.

On the contrary, if we know there’s room for improvement in any area of our health, then we can step up our game.

We might be telling ourselves that we’re eating ‘well’ but we mindlessly snack on candy at the reception desk or consume liquid calories without a thought. We may be going through the motions of a workout but we’re barely breaking a sweat. We may be over scheduling our lives with little down time to recover from all the ‘busy-ness’.

At the end of the day, we need to be grateful for our health. We need to celebrate our ability to exercise and take care of our bodies.

I know it can be discouraging when the scale doesn’t say what we want it to.

This is why I suggest quantifying 3 NON SCALE victories before ever getting on the scale.

Non-scale victories are easily forgotten if we get too fixated on a number. When that number doesn’t appear on the scale, we get discouraged and want to give up.

If weight loss is the goal, it will likely come when we stick with the healthy habits we know we should be applying. Often times things are happening under the surface, we may get frustrated when things don’t happen on our schedule, but things are happening.
