Time to be S.E.L.F.I.S.H.

You can do anything you put your mind to

I recently did a 6 hour climb in Banff, AB.

The guided route crosses 3-wire suspension bridges over gaping chasms, continuing to 2,450 meters at the Summit. There are dazzling 360-degree views at the top of the mountain.

Maybe you’re not up for a climb to the top of a mountain, but I’m sure you have your own mountains to climb.

If you want to be the BEST version of yourself and serve the people in your life the most effectively, you need to be SELFISH.

Say what?

Here’s what I mean….Start to implement these things:

S – START – Every journey starts somewhere. No matter where you are on your health journey, getting started is the first step.

E – EXERCISE EVERY DAY
 – The ‘right’ kind of exercise is imperative when you workout. You only need 3-5 short bursts of exercise weekly to get in top condition and lose fat.

As well, being active every day also counts. I can help you with the ‘right exercise’ and you can help yourself by doing active things like taking the stairs, parking at the end of the lot, moving your body as much as you can.

L – LIFESTYLE – Being healthy doesn’t start and stop with a diet or exercise program. In fact, I want you to stop dieting completely and stop program hopping to the next latest fad workout plan.

Start eating to fuel your body (more on that next), start doing short workouts like this and finally start making small, permenant, doable changes that stick.

F – FUEL YOUR BODY – Could you put sugar in a Ferrari’s gas tank and expect it to perform optimally? Your body is the equivalent of a high performance vehicle and should be treated as such. Food is for enjoyment, but it’s so much more than that.

When you think about how you’ll feel 15 minutes or an hour after you eat something, you may rethink your nutritional choices. Feeding yourself for long term energy will make a surprising difference to your outlook, your belly fat and more.

I – INFLUENCE – Whether you like it or not, you are an influencer to your loved ones.

Do you want to be an inspiration or an impediment to those around you? When a woman gets healthy, all those around her get a health upgrade.

S – SLEEP & STRESS REDUCTION – It’s imperative to protect your sleep and reduce stress in order to help others, have mental clarity, be your best self (and even lose belly fat).

Keep a regular schedule as much as you can. *I use the iPhone ‘bedtime’ app to help remind me when it’s time to shut down to get to bed on time, (even on the weekends).

H – HEALTHY ATTITUDE – It’s the mental piece that’s really a game changer. When improving your health, the best way to approach it is to break it down into chunks. Just get thru one ‘chunk’ and then take on the next so you’re not overwhelmed by trying to do everything all at once.

The mental game is everything, once you’ve got that down, you can do anything.

Slow and steady, you can do anything you put your mind to – including climbing whatever mountain you choose.
