In a Rut? How to Get ‘Unstuck’

Are you feeling uninspired, unmotivated and in a rut? This might be a rut in relation to health, relationships, career – anything really…

To summarize, here are 5 Ways to Get Out of a Rut:

Take a break in nature.

Take quiet time to assess and do big some big thinking. Turn off electronics and focus on what’s going well in your life and what needs to change. Consider all the things you’re grateful for, this can be a game changer in itself.

Action => Goals?

Assess if your lifestyle habits and direction you’re taking are congruent with your goals. Is what you’re doing, what you’re eating etc going to help you long term? Often times it’s the ‘top of mind awareness’ that’s lacking. We tend to go through life on auto-pilot without much thought and we don’t connect obvious dots – some things are very simple to change once we put even the smallest amount of effort into them.

Exercise is a great way to clear your head. It’s a natural anti-depressant and often times we see things in a different light after we’ve taken a good break from them. Overthinking issues can be paralyzing, so a mental break from a hot sweaty workout provides mental clarity. Here are some great workouts to get you started.

The Company You Keep…

Surround yourself with people that share your values, people you want to learn from and who support your goals. It’s never a good thing to always be the smartest person in the room. I love to be the neophyte in a group so I can play up to learn from experts.

We all have people in our lives that tend to bring us down, now we can’t always remove them completely (sometimes they are actually family members), but we can limit exposure to them or at least take them less seriously if they do a number on us.

Take action.

It’s one thing to KNOW you’re in a rut, it’s another thing to DO something about it. Action always relieves anxiety – the quickest way to get unstuck is to do ONE thing. Typically taking action on one thing will lead to another.
