Essential Oils to the Rescue

I felt a lil catch in my throat…essential_oils

You know that feeling when you feel that maybe a cold is coming on?

What do YOU do?

For me, I break out the oil of oregano.

I used to think it was just an old wives tale that using essential oils would actually make a difference in improving my health, but not anymore. Honestly, the proof is in the pudding – I haven’t had a cold in years.

Essential oils are made from fragrant essences found in many plants. They’re used in aromatherapy to support and balance the mind, body, and spirit.

Essential oils are very concentrated. For example, it takes about 220 pounds of lavender flowers to make about 1 pound of essential oil. Fragrant plants have been used in healing practices for thousands of years across many cultures, including ancient China, India and Egypt.

Many scientific studies of essential oils have found that they have anti-bacterial effects, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties.

In addition, studies have shown that different essential oils can be calming or energizing and immune responses were improved with application.
One study showed that after essential oils were inhaled, markers of the fragrance compounds were found in the bloodstream, suggesting that aromatherapy affects the body directly like a drug, in addition to indirectly through the central nervous system.

With that said, I’ve been exploring the many uses of essential oils because I’d much rather attend to health issues from a wholistic perspective.

If you’re new to essential oils, or if you’ve never really been taught how to use them properly… getting the best results can seem daunting.
Fortunately, I stumbled onto the ‘Bible’ of Essential Oils. This book gave me more insight into the power of Essential Oils than anything I’ve ever come across.
