This is a hard core dude. You’ve met him on the blog before. His name is Travis Stoetzel. We did a head to head challenge on the TRX. If you have a suspension trainer, this is a great challenge. What you’ll do is as many low rows as possible, rest one minute and then go into atomic push ups, as many as possible. Your goal is to get to 40 for each exercise.
Travis has been on my blog here, explaining what a hardcore ‘finisher’ is. I know I’ve talked a lot about Mike Whitfield and his ‘finisher’ program. Travis has similar ideas for his finishers. He uses some unique equipment and combinations for his finishers. You’re not hardcore until you try a few of Travis’ finishers.
Here are a few samples:
Finisher #10 – Burpees and Squats and Rope, Oh My
Do the following circuit 3 times, resting for 30-45 secs between circuits
- 1) Burpees (20 secs)
- 2) Prisoner Squats (30 secs)
- 3) Battling Ropes (40 secs)
Finisher #16 – The Ladder of Pain
Do 1 Round ALL OUT!
- 1A) 5 x KB Thruster
- 1B) 10 x Burpee Box Jump
- 1C) 15 x Sit Outs / Side
- 1D) 20 x Kettlebell Swings
- 1E) 25 x Hanging Leg Raises
- 1F) 30 x Hollow Rocks
What I like most about Travis is he quietly just gets it done: whether it’s building the best gym and boot camp around, creating awesome programs for his clients or just plain training like a crazy man. There’s no talk in Travis, it’s all ‘do’. He talks a great deal about mental toughness, something I certainly aspire to have and admire it in him.
