Lose Your Menopause Belly

I had the good fortune to be interviewed by Mike Koenigs for ‘The Mike Koenigs Show’, take a look:

Mike: Tell me what got you started and why you do what you do?

Me: We have a real problem.The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data found that: 68.1% of women ages 40-59 were classified as “overweight” or “affected by obesity”. According to the Healthy Women Study 20% of the population they studied gained 10 pounds or more in peri-menopause,

Weight gain is most commonly in belly and abdominal fat increases the risk of future metabolic disease, such as diabetes and heart disease, in postmenopausal women.

It’s one thing to know the stats. It’s another thing to see it happen to someone you love. I watched my mom struggle thru menopausal issues and then die a painful and completely preventable early death.

So I’m more motivated than ever to help women so that women and their families don’t suffer similarly.

Over the past 10 years, I’ve worked with over 50,000 women who for the most part have been unprepared for the changes that menopause brings. Women suffer with weight gain, loss of confidence, lack of sleep and a myriad of other symptoms that can be addressed through lifestyle modification. I’ve found there are 4 things that can completely change everything.

Mike: The most common belief is that a woman’s metabolism tanks after the age of 40. Is that really true?

Me: Both men and women’s metabolism drops with age, but this has less to do with hormones and more to do with muscle loss. Most women either become increasingly sedentary or focus on the wrong type of exercise which exacerbates their metabolic demise.

Mike: Let’s talk about the 4 things that change everything. What are they?

Me: Let me tell you two things…A women needs to make small tweaks to her nutrition, things that will make her feel satisfied and stop her cravings and she needs to move her body with short exercise routines that will boost her metabolism and give her sexy muscle. Mindset readjustment and discovering sleep hacks are also needed and I address these in my book too.

Mike: Let’s talk about online fitness coaching– why do you think this (instead of in person) is so effective for the women you work with?

Me: I do both types of training. But the biggest reason for lack of exercising is time constraints and lack of direction. That’s why I want to provide an easy to implement road map that women can do in less than 20 minutes at home.
